By far, one of our favorite musicians to speak with is Overkill vocalist Bobby Blitz. Always good-natured and full of energy, we spoke with Blitz only a few days before he was forced to drop off Overkill's tour with Testament due to a pneumonia diagnosis.
Overkill have been forced to drop off their 'Dark Roots of Thrash' tour with fellow legends Testament due to health issues with singer Bobby Blitz. Diagnosed with walking pneumonia, the wailing Overkill vocalist was unable to perform in Huntington, N.Y. on Feb. 15. Overkill remained hopeful that Blitz could return to the stage sometime during the tour, but Blitz's condition has worsened to the point where he can not perform.
Testament and Overkill have been rocking stages hard over the past month, but being out on the road during cold and flu season is not always easy. Overkill frontman Bobby Blitz has been dealing with a cold over the course of the trek that recently turned into something more serious.
What better way to spend Valentine’s Day that with some thrash metal? Testament and Overkill rocked New York City’s Best Buy Theater on Thursday, Feb. 14, along with support from Flotsam and Jetsam and 4arm for the ‘Dark Roots of Earth’ Tour.
Bobby Blitz of Overkill was the guest on Full Metal Jackie’s radio show this past weekend. The vocalist spoke about the band’s massive trek with Testament, as well as his feeling towards East Coast and West Coast thrash metal. You will see this tour and you will like it! Both Testament and Overkill successfully raided 2012 with awesome new albums, and luckily for thrash fans, the two bands have teamed up to create the must-see 'Dark Roots of Thrash' tour, beginning in January 2013.
Overkill are among the bands playing Converse's Represent music festival at the the famed 100 Club in London. The thrash-metal veterans will be performing Aug. 9 at the venue, which will host dozens of other acts during the fest's two week run.
On Saturday, May 12, thrash metal legends Overkill played the final date of their 'Electric Age' tour in front of 2000 rabid hometown fans. For nearly two hours, the band cranked out tracks encompassing their entire career and put on one of the greatest live shows we've ever seen … period.
