Voting in the 3rd Annual Loudwire Music Awards recently came to an end, with a batch of rock and metal winners being saluted for their efforts during the year 2013. Among those winners was Skillet, who took home the Best Rock Album honor for their stellar effort, 'Rise.'
Congrats to Skillet, who emerged victorious in one of the closest battles of the 3rd Annual Loudwire Music Awards. The band's 'Rise' album wins Best Rock Album of 2013, pulling in 31.5 percent of the vote.

Five Finger Death Punch's 'Battleborn' emerged victorious over Black Sabbath's 'Loner' in the latest Cage Match. Now, 5FDP are one win away from the Cage Match Hall of Fame, but can they pull off one final victory?
Last year's inaugural Monster Energy Aftershock Festival was a single day affair, but it was expanded to two days this year and packed with one of the most powerful lineups we've seen for years. Korn, Megadeth and Shinedown led night one of the fest on Saturday, Sept.14 in Sacramento, Calif., on day one of the extravaganza.
After their last album ‘Awake’ went platinum, Skillet had the daunting task of following it up. They are well on their way with ‘Rise,’ a concept album that was released in June and debuted at No. 1 on the rock album chart and No. 4 on the Billboard 200. The lead single ‘Sick of It’ immediately hit the Top 10 on the mainstream rock chart, while ‘American Noise’ topped the Christian chart.
There’s no better way to spend a summer day than with a massive tour such as Carnival of Madness. This year headliners Shinedown brought the madness to the Stone Pony Summerstage in Asbury Park, N.J., to kick off the trek on Aug. 11. Support included heavy hitters Skillet, Sevendust, In This Moment and We As Human.
Skillet can count not one, but two talented woman amongst their ranks. Korey Cooper plays rhythm guitar, keyboards, and provides backing vocals while Jen Ledger provides the backbone of the band behind the kit as well as additional backing vocals.
