Venom leader Cronos spoke with Full Metal Jackie about the band's 'From the Very Depths' disc, metal's evolution and much more.

Venom are releasing their next studio album, ‘From the Very Depths,’ on Jan. 27 and you can stream one of the tracks off the disc right now.

The upcoming record, 'From the Very Depths,' has been locked in for a Jan. 27 street date via Spinefarm Records.

Venom are one of the most influential bands in metal history. Their second album, 1982's 'Black Metal,' helped spawn an entire subgenre. However, their 1981 debut 'Welcome To Hell' was released on Neat Records after Venom were apparently rudely rejected by EMI in a vulgar letter (see it below).

There is perhaps no debut album that influenced all types of extreme metal more monumentally than Venom's 'Welcome to Hell.' The British act's first record helped spark the metal sub-genres of thrash metal, death metal and black metal all at once and completely by accident.
