The Company Band Blend Clutch, CKY + More at New York Gig
The Company Band are made up of an all-star lineup of groove-oriented acts. Consisting of Clutch vocalist Neil Fallon, CKY drummer Jess Margera, Fireball Ministry’s James Rota, Fu Manchu’s Brad Davis on bass and guitarist Dave Bone, the Company Band boast one of the most solid foundations in modern rock. We recently had the chance to see the band live in Brooklyn, New York and to talk with both Margera and Rota before the show.
Before the Company Band took the St. Vitus Bar stage, Silver Spring, Md. rock band Lionize put on a killer show. Heavily influenced by Clutch and classic rock and reggae, Lionize presented a perfect middle ground for Company Band fans to use as a dance floor.
Jess Margera described the appeal of the Company Band perfectly during our interview in the dungeon of St. Vitus Bar. “If you like beer and classic rock, it should be right up your alley. If you like it, great! If you don’t like it, great! [Laughs] We don’t care, cuz we’re doing this for us, so f— you.”
Stay tuned for our full interview with Jess Margera and James Rota.
As the Company Band took the stage, the group sipped on beers and exchanged high-fives before launching into ‘House of Capricorn’ from their new EP, ‘Pros & Cons.’ The group not only carries themselves as accomplished individual musicians, but almost like a veteran act who have been filling up venues for 20 years.
The crowd gave the band a tremendous amount of love in between tracks such as ‘Hot Topic Woman,’ ‘It’s a Confusing World’ and ‘Love Means Never Having to Say You’re Ugly,’ with the audience toasting the band in between songs. Strangely enough, it was the new tracks from ‘Pros & Cons’ that pulled the loudest roars out of the crowd, even though the EP hadn’t even been released yet.
