Punk legends the Damned are shaping up to have a big 2017. With an exhaustive North American tour lined up for the spring in celebration of their 40th anniversary, the group will also begin work on their long-anticipated new album.

Just one year after forming, the Damned released their first record, Damned Damned Damned, the first studio album ever released by a U.K. punk band. They'll be playing the album in its entirety with the dozen cuts stretching just over 30 minutes, leaving plenty of time for other classics to be thrown into the setlist.

The tour kicks off on Apr. 6 in Los Angeles, hitting a plethora of cities across a whopping 34 stops, ending in Phoenix, Ariz. on May 21. Tickets will go on sale this Friday (Oct. 28) and the band posted a message on their Facebook page, instructing fans to RSVP to their show of choice to gain access to exclusive pre-sales.

The Damned will hit the studio over the winter to begin work on their forthcoming successor to 2008's So, Who's Paranoid? and have launched a Pledge Music campaign to help crowdfund the album. A multitude of options are available for those who opt to back the project, including signed copies of the album in various formats, vinyl test pressings, guitar lessons and a lot more.

Co-founder Captain Sensible recently spoke with CLRVYNT about the band's 40th anniversary. When asked if he envisioned the Damned lasting this long, the bassist turned guitarist replied, "In '76, I was just happy to be able to twang a guitar for a living. I still feel the same. I’m a lucky bastard, and I don't take it for granted like some other musos I could mention. The glory days were actually quite rough and ready, as we were often sleeping on each other's floors. It was fun, but hardly glamorous. And we were the first, which always got up ol' [Malcolm] McLaren's [Sex Pistols manager] nose."
