The Devil Wears Prada Energize New York City Fans at ‘First Sight’ With the Ghost Inside + More
The Devil Wears Prada have been trekking around in promotion of their latest album ‘8:18’ and Tuesday night they made a stop at New York City’s Best Buy Theater. Support included performances by the Ghost Inside, Volumes and Texas In July.
Even though the Devil Wears Prada kicked off their set with ‘Gloom,’ the night was filled with excitement and pulsating energy. Frontman Mike Hranica is a total powerhouse onstage. Every time he performs, sweat and strength are put behind every second of each song in the set. It’s no wonder the band has such a massive following, as a whole they are forceful.
They played other new favorites ‘Sailor’s Prayer,’ ‘Martyrs,’ ‘First Sight’ as well as the title track. Hranica stepped away from the mic and showed off his guitar skills onstage with the group during the instrumental part of ‘War.’
If Hranica’s harsh vocals aren’t felt from the gut then it’s rhythm guitarist and clean vocalist Jeremy DePoyster’s heartwrenching harmonies that will get you. From the beginning to the end of the set, fans completely went wild to tracks ‘Danger: Wildman,’ ‘Outnumbered,’ ‘Born to Lose,’ ‘Dead Throne’ and their set ending ‘Mammoth.’ Whether the material is old or new, the Devil Wears Prada fans will show up to sing and mosh their hearts out.
Supporting acts the Ghost Inside definitely got crowdsurfers going while Volumes had an explosive set that led to multiple mosh pits. Outside of Best Buy Theater it was a cold December night but inside it sure felt like sweltering summer day when opening act Texas in July hit the stage.
