Where do you stand on supporting As I Lay Dying's return to the music scene with Tim Lambesis fronting the band? The singer's heinous crime of attempting to hire a hitman to murder his estranged wife landed him behind bars and led his group to fracture at the height of their fame while his legal situation played out. But Lambesis has served his time, has done his best to make amends and has regained the support of his bandmates as they've reunited and toured this year. For those still on the fence on their feelings about the singer, Lambesis has penned a new post offering his viewpoint and more clarity as he and the band continue their return to the musical landscape.

"I stand against who I became in my past and am pursuing a new purpose in the rebirth of AILD. We collective are," states the vocalist at the top of his posting, clarifying, "People who support AILD are not supporting the person I once was, because part of my life's work now is to undo the hurt I've caused and helped others in addiction. Instead, I think AILD fans are supporting the belief that people can change. I will never be able to undo my greatest mistake, but I believe it's better to do something rather than give up."

Lambesis continues, "AILD collectively condemns all forms of domestic abuse and violence. Its aftermath is one of pervasive, long-lasting hurt and there is no acceptable excuse or defense for such behavior. Our agenda as a band is to actively back and work with organizations who offer support to those who are emotionally suffering and in pain. Whether it be from a history of abuse, hardship, or mental illness—pro-activity in healing and recovery is at the core of what this band is now."

The singer adds, "Tonight we’ll play the biggest headline show of our career (topping our second biggest headline show earlier on this same tour). Our fans in Germany did not know this when they bought their tickets, but we will be donating a portion of proceeds from our show to HeartSupport; an organization we believe in that functions to provide emotional support and counseling to young adults caught in cycles of addiction, depression, sexual abuse, and family turmoil. Our mission is to continually seek and implement ways to facilitate positive, meaningful change in the world around us. For now, we don’t want to miss out on bringing purpose into our biggest moment yet. We’ve been given a second chance we thought we’d never have again and we certainly don’t take it for granted."

The reactivation of As I Lay Dying may have come as a surprise to many when it was revealed, as the band's remaining members went on to form Wovenwar during Lambesis' prison stay. Initially starting in Europe, the band began to sell out shows, causing them to book larger venues. However, there have been some bumps in the road, with the Resurrection Fest deciding to pull the band from their bill due to the divisive views amongst festival goers on whether or not to support Lambesis and As I Lay Dying.

What's your take on As I Lay Dying's return and Lambesis' mission to make amends for his past? Does his latest missive clarify his and the band's stance any further and change or color your opinion on their return? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of this post.
