Hailing from Asbury Park in New Jersey, Toothgrinder play a diverse brand of metallic hardcore complete with sludgy, post-rock elements that stays true to the band's mission statement of employing a broad range of sounds. Walking the more anthemic and emotional line, the quartet crafted "Diamonds for Gold," off their forthcoming release, Nocturnal Masquerade. The track features guest vocals from Periphery singer Spencer Sotelo, and we have the exclusive premiere in the player above!

Unlike their previous single, "The House (That Fear Built)," Toothgrinder strip away the more spastic and extreme elements of their sound to reveal a more somber facet. Opening with a riff reminiscent of Mastodon, clean-picked guitars hone a haunting atmosphere that set the stage for a moody spoken word passage. As the tension mounts, the chorus trades clean group chants with harsh screams across a swinging mid-tempo rhythm.

The bridge sees the band enter their more familiar extreme territory as dual threat bassist/vocalist Matt Arensdorf steps up his rage over stomping guitar chugs. The sweeping chorus is re-introduced and is sure to be a fan favorite live, lending itself well to crowd participation.

Commenting on the song, Toothgrinder state, "'Diamonds for Gold' is one of those songs on the album that makes us proud that we have decided to take a leap into the unknown. The track is a perfect introduction to the more ethereal side of Toothgrinder. It really sets the mood for the more dynamic tonal pieces of the record. A break from the chaos is exactly what Nocturnal Masquerade has called for. We had a lot of fun watching the song come together and hope that translates to the outside listener."

Nocturnal Masquerade is out Jan. 29, 2016, via Spinefarm Records. Fans can pre-order the album through iTunes and the band's merch site.
