Vamps Rock New York City With Like a Storm and From Ashes to New
While talking to the security at Best Buy Theater on the day of the Vamps' New York show, they surprisingly explained that fans were lingering around the venue days before the packed gig. Support was provided by Like a Storm and From Ashes to New.
The Japanese rock act Vamps was formed by frontman Hyde and lead guitarist K.A.Z. They headlined the night and started their set with “Reincarnation,” “World’s End” and “Lips.” Everyone partied during the band’s rendition of Motley Crue’s “Live Wire.”
Fans also jumped and sang to such contagious tracks as “Zero,” “Replay” and “Angel Trip.” It’s no surprise why Hyde is such a megastar in Japan and has a nice following in the States, as he and the rest of the band had the crowd in the palm of their hands. If it’s not the dreamy melodies that get fans going then it might be the fast paced guitar riffs.
The night ended on a high note as the encore included favorites such as ‘Revolution II,” “Memories,” “Devil’s Side” and ‘Sex Blood Rock N’ Roll.’ Vamps fans will be patiently waiting and lining up to see them when they make their way back to New York.
New Zealand rock band Like a Storm gave a high energy performance as they are trekking around the states in support of their latest disc Awaken the Fire. Not only is each member of the band very photogenic but they also separate themselves from the rest as they incorporate the notable Australian instrument the didgeridoo into their music. Special moments of the set were their renditions of AC/DC’s “T.N.T” and Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise.”
From Ashes to New opened up the show with a lively set as they performed brand new tracks of their brand new EP Downfall. The up-and-coming band will continue touring in support of this fresh release. With two vocalists and a strong unit of musicians behind them, From Ashes to New give fans a strong mix of rap-rock and alternative metal.
