Avenged Sevenfold, Korn + More Bring Pure Mayhem to Pennsylvania [Photo Gallery]
With only a handful of dates left, the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival is nearing the end of its run, but we were lucky enough to catch the stop at the Pavilion on Montage Mountain in at Scranton, Pa.
The main stage was headlined by Avenged Sevenfold, who heated things up -- literally. It’s no surprise the band topped the bill with their impressive and exciting stage production, including lots and lots of fire. A7X showcased tunes from their latest album, 'Hail to the King,' and performed a wide range of tracks from their entire discography.
Korn had the most energetic presence on the main stage. Frontman Jonathan Davis even brought some of the Korn members' kids onstage and they headbanged just as heavy as their dads. Korn’s performance ended on a romantic note when a fan popped the question onstage to his girlfriend, who of course said yes.
Asking Alexandria had an entertaining set as the proudly intoxicated vocalist Danny Worsnop made fans laugh and kids crowd-surf. Trivium kicked things off on the main stage with a forceful set which was far too short. Frontman Matt Heafy also got a special honor as he received a Korn anniversary guitar from Brian ‘Head’ Welch and Munky.
The side stages were just as exciting and loud. On the Coldcock American Herbal Whiskey Stage, Cannibal Corpse, Suicide Silence, Miss May I, Mushroomhead, Texas Hippie Coalition and King 810 all battered ear drums. Over on the Victory Records Stage, Emmure, Ill Nino, Wretched, Islander and Erimha gave relentless performances. While on Sumerian’s Headbang for the Highway Stage, Body Count, Darkest Hour, Upon a Burning Body and Veil of Maya kept the hair flying.
