So if you think you’ve heard every possible incarnation of Poison’s ‘Every Rose Has It’s Thorn,’ think again! Bret Michaels is gearing up to release a new solo disc titled ‘Get Your Rock On’ and it will include a duet of the twangy love song with country legend Loretta Lynn.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Michaels talks about collaborating with Lynn and says it was all her idea to remake the classic song. Michaels explained the odd match up: “I met her at Thanksgiving and it was really great. We were out at her ranch in Hurricane Mills and we sat there, me and her, and after everyone, the whole family and my crew sort of dissipated we sat there and started writing some songs together.”

Michaels and Lynn wrote a few original songs together as well, one for a project Lynn is working on and another for a separate album Michaels is working on.

‘Get Your Rock On’ will feature several other guests appearances too including Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen lending his playing skills on the title track along with Sal Costa from My Darkest Days.

The album also features a live version of ‘Margaritaville,’ performed with the margarita man himself, Jimmy Buffett. This track, along with the Loretta Lynn collaboration will be offered as bonus tracks on the solo album.

Bret will be spending a lot of 2012 on the road with his band Poison as part of a blockbuster tour with Def Leppard. ‘Get Your Rock On’ is due out sometime this year.
