British extreme metal icons Carcass have just announced a handful of 2013 North American sonic surgeries. The brief run of dates will feature various support from a few of metal's heaviest acts: Immolation, Exhumed and Macabre.

Carcass' sixth full-length album, 'Surgical Steel,' will act as the first studio album from the group since 1997. Fans have been begging for new material since Carcass reunited in 2007 after a 12-year hiatus, but it's taken them six years to flesh out the right amount of fresh music.

Frontman Jeff Walker and guitarist Bill Steer helped bring Carcass back to life, but in 2012, guitarist Michael Amott and drummer Daniel Erlandsson left the re-formed band to focus on their work with Arch Enemy. Guitarist Ben Ash and drummer Daniel Wilding now fill in those two spots.

“Well we thought we’d play a few small key shows, kinda like the vibe we had in London earlier this year," says Jeff Walker. "Maybe we’re being a bit optimistic thinking we can fill these venues? Well to make sure we do we’re bringing along some old friends & bands who will probably blow us away. We’re too much of a bunch of tight wads to throw a record release party so this is the closest you’ll get – come on down, and bring your receipt with the new album purchase and demand a refund!”

Get ready for Carcass' 'Surgical Steel' to hit shelves on Sept. 17, and check out the band's current 2013 North American tour dates below.
