After apparently resolving some legal issues, Stone Temple Pilots are back to their original name after calling themselves Stone Temple Pilots With  for a while. That's good news for the STP and Linkin Park frontman.

Bennington discussed that topic in a recent interview with AltWire: "We can’t wait to get out and perform again, and you know, it’ll be fun to go out as just Stone Temple Pilots [laughs]. That’s exciting, because it really bothered me to see Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington. So I’m glad that’s gone and glad that that’s over."

STP have been working on a new album, and Bennington talked about its sound compared to their 2013 EP High Rise. "I think it’s a lot different," Bennington reveals. "I really don’t like talking about music that people aren’t hearing because it’s hard to describe what the music sounds like, but it’s super energetic. The riffs are really cool and the playing has been really insane."

Bennington continues, "So, I think there’s going to be a lot of our STP fans out there that are super happy. Every guitar player in the world is going to want to learn how to play these riffs, whether it’s guitar or bass. Eric has done amazing too. Really it’s now coming down to making great melodies and coming up with some good lyrics."

When it comes to balancing being in two bands, Bennington says, "With Linkin Park and Stone Temple Pilots, neither one should ever interfere with the other. If LP puts out records every eighteen months, that’s what we’re going to do ... and tour a certain number of shows every single year, then that’s what we’re going to do. Stone Temple Pilots will just have to figure out a way to work around that. We’ve done a pretty good job so far."

After injuring his ankle earlier this year which caused Linkin Park to cancel some concert dates, Bennington says he's still pretty sore, but should be ready to go in a couple of weeks when Stone Temple Pilots kick off a U.S. tour April 8 in Seattle.
