One of the most shocking deaths in 2011 was that of GWAR lead guitarist Cory 'Flattus Maximus' Smoot in November of this year. As GWAR were crossing the Canadian boarder into Manitoba, frontman Dave 'Oderus Urungus' Brockie discovered Smoot dead in his bunk. The cause of death has been officially ruled as coronary artery thrombosis due to pre-existing heart disease. GWAR have since retired the 'Flattus Maximus' character in honor of Smoot.
