Sludge pioneers Crowbar will have a familiar face next time you see them. The band has dismissed bassist Jeff Golden, but they're welcoming the return of original member Todd "Sexy T" Strange.

Just hours after announcing Golden was no longer in the band, it was revealed that Strange was returning to Crowbar. A statement on Facebook detailed the split with Golden who locked down the spot since 2013, playing on 2014's Symmetry in Black. The statement from leader Kirk Windstein read, "As many of you may have heard, we have parted ways with Jeff Golden, and he is no longer our bassist. Being in a band is like being in a relationship and things don't always work out. We want to thank Jeff for his dedication and loyalty and we sincerely wish him and his family all the best in the future. Kirk."

The next post arrived, stating, 'Welcome back my friend!!" with a picture of Strange underneath. The founding member performed on the first five Crowbar albums, leaving in 2000.

Crowbar have been hard at work on their next record and Kirk Windstein gave an update on their progress in February. With a conscious decision to return to their older form, he told Revolver, “On the last few albums, we brought in some new elements to what the original idea of the Crowbar sound was. It was very refreshing, and I think all in all it worked out great, but I’m trying to bring back some of the original elements that somehow got phased out little by little over the course of the last 26 years. I’ve also been listening to certain stuff like Carnivore, the Melvins, Trouble—bands that were big influences on the original Crowbar sound. The sound of what’s going on right now reminds me of a better, fresher, more mature version of the original Crowbar stuff.”

Fans will have the chance to catch Strange back with the band this summer as Crowbar take part in the 'One Foot in the Grave 2016' tour, supporting Carcass. Rounding out the bill will be Ghoul and Night Demon. A full list of stops can be seen at our 2016 Guide to Rock + Metal Tours.
