Italian Cinematic Rock Legends Goblin Rebirth to Release New Album
The word "cult" is constantly used in the worlds of rock and metal. There are highly successful "cult" acts with near-religious fan bases such as Tool and Slipknot, but the sensational worship of rock and metal heroes goes deep into the underground as well. A perfect example is Italian cinematic rock band Goblin, who have just been signed to Relapse Records to create a new album.
Goblin have reached legendary status for their collaborations with Italian master of horror Dario Argento. Goblin found immense success by scoring numerous Argento films such as 'Profondo Rosso,' 'Zombi' and 'Suspiria.'
The Goblin name has taken many forms throughout the years, but Relapse has signed the 'Goblin Rebirth' lineup, which features classic members Agostino Marangolo (drums) and Fabio Pignatelli (bass).
"It was clear to us from the start that we wanted to do an album that in some way evolved from the original Goblin sound but also took a new direction reflecting the personalities of all the band members," says the band. "The pieces all fell together to make up a story that loosely describes the destruction and rebirth of a strange creature. This is itself a loose metaphor referring to the band history."
The first new Goblin Rebirth recordings will arrive in spring 2015. Stay tuned for release dates, song samples from the upcoming album, tour dates and more!
