U.S. death metal institution Incantation were among the early pioneers of a burgeoning scene. The Pennsylvanian act was caught between the New York and Tampa hotbeds, crafting a dark, brooding style that stylistically distanced them from everything else going on at the time as they delivered early classics in Onward to Golgotha and Mortal Throne of Nazarene.

Enduring countless lineup changes, guitarist-vocalist John McEntee has served as the band's lone constant, maintaining a stream of top shelf releases, which brings us to Profane Nexus in 2017. Get a taste as the band has partnered with Loudwire to bring you the lyric video (directed by Don Tyler) for "Lus Sepulcri."

When you get a new Incantation song, it's either going to be a straightforward, throat-throttler or seismic, subterranean rumble. "Lus Sepulcri" falls into the former category, marked by an earth-churning riff that drives the song further toward our world's molten core. McEntee's gurgling bellow aligns with this heat-seeking notion, delivering choppy yet calculated barks alongside wah-drenched tapping melodies.

Profane Nexus, Incantation's 10th studio effort, will be released on Aug. 11 through Relapse Records. The album was recorded at the band's own studio and mastered by the legendary Dan Swanö and is available for pre-order now through the label's webstore. Catch them on tour supporting Marduk starting Aug. 18 with additional support coming from Abysmal Dawn. A list of all stops can be found here.
