Update: This article was written and posted just prior to the tragic news of Chester Bennington’s death. The video was released by the band earlier in the day.

Linkin Park have been one of the most talked about bands of 2017. They surprised many with their newest album, One More Light, which leans heavily on a more melodic and pop side as indicated by singles "Heavy," "Battle Symphony" and "Good Goodbye." Their newest music video is for the more guitar-driven, energetic "Talking to Myself," which can be viewed above.

The Mike Fiore-directed video shows clips of ravenous fans alternated with the band tracking the song in the studio, masterfully assembled in an eye-catching array of panels within each frame. As for the song itself, it deviates from previously released singles, featuring prominent guitar parts amid the more beat-backed portions that dominate the verse. There's a playful push and pull that ultimately falls under the pop-rock umbrella.

The band has received some backlash over the direction of the new album. Some fans have labeled the band sellouts, which irked frontman Chester Bennington who aggressively fired back at the detractors. The singer hasn't backed down from Linkin Park's new sound, which was commended by Slipknot / Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor.

Despite the polarizing response, One More Light has been a success for Linkin Park. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts, marking the sixth time the band has accomplished this impressive feat. The "Heavy" single is also the second highest selling digital rock song according to a Nielsen mid-year report. Linkin Park's summer tour with Machine Gun Kelly kicks off July 27 and you can head to this location to see all of the upcoming dates.
