Though one of the biggest acts in the world now, there was a time when Metallica was still somewhat new to some audiences and making a name for themselves. And thanks to the band, you can revisit a classic live performance that's been included on their upcoming Master of Puppets deluxe box set. The band has unleashed a live version of "For Whom the Bell Tolls" taken from their touring in 1986 in support of the Master of Puppets disc.

"I don't know if you've seen Metallica before," says Metallica's James Hetfield with a sheepish laugh, before explaining, "This really sucks, but I usually have a guitar in my hand at this point, and I got a cast on instead. I jumped off a skateboard at 50mph and that's not too happening." As such, Metallica performed the song with roadie John Marshall (aka John Stack) helping to recreate Hetfield's rhythm guitar parts live.

The performance came at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va. on Aug. 3, 1986 and the band still had Cliff Burton with them playing bass before his death just over a month later. The show was the last for the band on that particular leg of Ozzy Osbourne's "Ultimate Sin Tour."

The group has since remastered the track as part of their upcoming deluxe box set for the Master of Puppets album. Take a listen in the player above and get your pre-orders in here ahead of the Nov. 10 street date.
