It's been a few months since we last heard any new music from Of Mice & Men, who have been readying their first release since the departure of Austin Carlile. They proved the band was more than capable of carrying on without their iconic frontman, having released "Unbreakable" as the first new single with bassist Aaron Pauley handling vocal duties. Fans can now mark Jan. 19 on their calendar as the day OM&M will issue Defy (through Rise Records) and can get a further taste of what's to come with the music video for the angsty "Warzone" above.

The song comes in under three-and-a-half minutes and is a lean, punchy track. There's a touch of an At the Gates feel in some of the verse riffing and Pauley's fiery vocal delivery, but their signature sound is still intact. A deep groove and a droning, siren-like lead dominate the chorus, followed by a series of chugs. The only reprieve from the redlined intensity comes at the mid-section where lush chords and Pauley's soaring clean voice offer some clarity.

"We’re excited to be debuting the music video for 'Warzone' today, a song from our new album, Defy. For us, this new album encapsulates and showcases our desire to return to an aggressive, live-oriented sound and 'Warzone' is one of the heaviest tracks on the album," comments Pauley. The singer adds, "Because we love releasing new music as often as we can, it only seemed fitting to release it right before our massive EU/UK tour with In Flames and Five Finger Death Punch this fall/winter. So turn it up and bang your head."

Defy will bring 12 new songs to the Of Mice & Men catalog and will serve as the band's fifth studio album. Check out the artwork and track listing below and take a listen to the previously released song "Back to Me" if you're itching for more.

Aaron Pauley also sang with Nothing More at the 2017 Loudwire Music Awards as they teamed up to honor the legacy of Chris Cornell. You can watch a video of their performance of Audioslave's "Show Me How to Live" further down the page.
