Pantera Reunion Featuring Zakk Wylde? – Readers Poll

As Pantera celebrate the 20th anniversary of their landmark album, ‘Vulgar Display of Power,’ a lot of chatter has been occurring online about the idea of Zakk Wylde hopping on a reunion tour with the band in place of the late “Dimebag” Darrell.
It all began when Pantera / Hellyeah drummer Vinnie Paul told radio station 97.1 The Eagle Rocks that if anyone were to take over for Dimebag, it would be his good friend Zakk Wylde. “I mean, [Zakk] and my brother were so tight,” said Vinnie Paul. “If [a Pantera reformation] ever were to happen, [Zakk] would be the guy [to step in for Dimebag]. But I honestly think, out of respect for my brother, we should just leave the 14 amazing years Pantera had be.”
Although Vinnie Paul didn’t seem to advocate the idea, word made its way to Pantera / Down frontman Phil Anselmo, prompting him to comment. “As far as Zakk Wylde goes, I am not too sold on that ’cause we have to hash some crap out too,” says Anselmo. “That day has not come yet, and until that day comes, I can comment further on that, but till then it is just talk. It would be rough not to see Dimebag on stage to my left, I would feel naked.”
Zakk Wylde himself has thrown his two cents in, telling Banana 101.5 in Flint, Mich., “If they were ever to actually do that and they asked me — of course I would do that in honor of Dimebag.” And most recently stating to Billboard.com, “How could I say no? I’d do my best to make them proud.”
This begs the question: Would you see a Pantera reunion tour if Zakk Wylde filled the vacant spot of the legendary “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott? Would it be a perfect celebration in honor of both Dimebag and the music of Pantera? Or is it sacrilegious to replace Dimebag in the legendary metal group? Tell us what you think in the poll below:
