Philip H. Anselmo, master of both metal and horror, has revealed further details about his 2013 Housecore Horror Film Festival. Along with Anselmo's own band Down, his solo act Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals and aggro-doom veterans Crowbar, the festival has now confirmed Eyehategod and Warbeast for the three-day event in Austin, Texas, with additional spooky surprises planned to await brave attendees.

What is sure to be one of the world's most unique and captivating gatherings, the Housecore Horror Film Festival is set to mix the realms of metal music and horror films in a manner never before concocted. Eyehategod frontman Mike IX shared his personal connection with horror flicks and the sacred ground such films share with metal music. He states the following:

As long time fans of old school and new school horror, disturbing documentaries, and the wonderful world of transgressive cinema, our band is truly honored to be a part of this brand new, mind blowing festival. It’s a perfect mix of heavy, messed up music and, an avalanche of twisted, terror-filled filmography, guaranteed to satisfy the most jaded fans of both genres … For me personally, horror movies were a rite of passage growing up. Horror and heavy metal go hand in hand – exploring evil landscapes, the dark side of the human psyche and humanity’s deep seated roots of unlimited curiosity.

Films confirmed to be shown throughout the three-day festival include, 'The Evil Dead' (plus horror/exploitation reel), 'The Manson Family,' 'Maniac,' 'Zombie,' 'Cannibal Holocaust,' 'Scream Bloody Murder' and many others. Former Mayhem vocalist Attila Csihar will also present fans with a truly unique experience, as the black metal veteran will perform a live soundtrack while the silent German expressionist classic 'The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari' is screened for a wide-eyed audience.

For true cult horror fans, Anselmo has yet another masterful treat to offer at the Housecore festival, as 'Coffin Joe' director and actor José Mojica Marins will introduce his Brazilian classic films, engage in a Q&A with fans, sign autographs and curate a museum-style exhibit of original artwork and posters never seen outside of Brazil.

Philip H. Anselmo's Housecore Horror Film Festival will be held at Emo's in Austin, Texas, from Oct. 25-27. Want to learn even more about the event? Check out the fest's official website!
