Update: Scott Weiland is NOT in jail and has issued a video update rebuking claims made by TMZ. In addition, TMZ is now reporting that it was a Scott Weiland impersonator who fooled police into thinking he was the former Stone Temple Pilots singer.

Former Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland was reportedly arrested four weeks ago for methamphetamine possession. Somehow, the news is just breaking now despite Weiland's arrest taking place last month, which has left him in jail ever since.

It's no secret that Weiland has struggled with addiction. The musician's habit has been a part of multiple fallouts with successful bands, including Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver.

According to TMZ, Weiland entered a Rite-Aid in July to steal razors and other cosmetic items. After a security guard tried to stop Weiland, the singer ran, only to be stopped by police soon after. Having brought an insulated bag into the store with him to prevent censors from going off, Weiland was only wanted for burglary, but a search resulted in the cops finding meth on Weiland's person.

TMZ also reports that Weiland attempted to use his celebrity status on the cops, stating, "I'm Scott Weiland from Stone Temple Pilots." The ploy didn't help the troubled singer, as he was arrested and brought to jail. Weiland has reportedly remained in jail for a total of four weeks.

Stay tuned as this story develops.
