September is shaping up to be big month for hard rock and metal albums, and after a hard-fought poll in which readers voted for their most anticipated release of the month, Shinedown's Threat to Survival has emerged victorious.

Shinedown's disc won out over such other big releases as Iron Maiden's The Book of Souls, Five Finger Death Punch's Got Your Six, Slayer's Repentless and Bring Me the Horizon's That's the Spirit, among others.

Threat to Survival is already off to a hot start, with its lead single "Cut the Cord" already topping the mainstream rock charts. Shinedown will head out this fall in support of the disc on a co-headlining North American trek with fellow hit-makers Breaking Benjamin. Check out the tour dates here.

As for the disc, frontman Brent Smith told the 'Loudwire Nights' radio show, "In my opinion, it is the strongest Shinedown record that we’ve ever made. It is the biggest sounding record we’ve ever made."

So, congratulations to Shinedown on being named Loudwire's September release of the month. Pre-order a copy of 'Threat to Survival' (due Sept. 18) at iTunes or in various bundles at the band's merch store.
