Soundgarden are trading one Matt for another this year. Their regular drummer Matt Cameron is otherwise occupied with Pearl Jam and spending more time with his family this year and highly respected drummer Matt Chamberlain is filling in.

Cameron made it known in late 2013 that he would not be playing with the band in 2014. But the members of Soundgarden, who took some time off for other projects, have now regrouped to launch their 2014 touring.

Chamberlain is well known in music circles, having played as a session drummer on albums from the likes of Fiona Apple, Kanye West, John Mayer, Elton John, Tori Amos and more. His first show of the tour with Soundgarden took place Thursday night (March 27) in Lima, Peru and fan-filmed footage of several tracks can be seen at the top and bottom of this post.

Chamberlain is expected to be with the band this summer when they take part in their co-headlining tour with Nine Inch Nails. Dates for the run can be found here.
