It was a banner year for Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators and that included some recognition for one of the band's key players -- Todd Kerns. The bassist was voted by Loudwire readers as the 2014 Bassist of the Year in the 4th Annual Loudwire Music Awards.

While Slash's and Myles Kennedy's names are most frequently mentioned in any headlines, Kerns also plays a large role in the band, laying down some sick licks on bass, providing backing vocals for Kennedy. He's even stepped up to sing on a few tracks during the band's live sets. You can hear Kerns' work all over the 'World on Fire' album.

The 2014 Bassist of the Year competition evolved into a two-man race, with Kerns eventually surpassing past winner Nikki Sixx, who pulled double duty this past year in Sixx: A.M. and Motley Crue. Cannibal Corpse's Alex Webster finished third in voting.

Congrats to Slash bassist Todd Kerns, winner of the 2014 Bassist of the Year in the 4th Annual Loudwire Music Awards! And look for Todd holding it down with Slash, Myles and his fellow Conspirators at these locations.
