As Tool fans anxiously await any morsel of news on the band’s new album, singer Maynard James Keenan has been keeping himself busy out on the road with A Perfect Circle.

So, what has the rest of the band been up to? Well, last night (Aug. 14) guitarist Adam Jones served up a rockin’ rendition of ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ to open the WWE SummerSlam 2011 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Watch the video of his performance below and let us know where it ranks in your favorite renditions of the national anthem.

Aside from being a guitar great, Jones is an accomplished visual artist, creating some of Tool’s most notable album covers. His most recent venture is a partnership with writer Steve Niles on the graphic novel ’X-Files/30 Days of Night.’

After a brief hiatus, Tool are currently working on their fifth studio album. No release date has been set.
