The School of Rock organization has done wonders for music education over the years, and their latest event had Tool drummer Danny Carey taking part.

Last Friday, Carey dropped by the School of Rock venue in West Los Angeles for a jam session with some of the gifted students. Carey rocked through several Led Zeppelin covers as well as the band’s own music, and MetalInsider.net reports that he took the time to also give an update on Tool’s current status.

While the group hasn’t fully returned to recording, he did admit that they “have the framework of at least five good songs,” and that they hope to finish their next album by the end of the year. It’s been six years since Tool released their ’10,000 Days’ studio album, though singer Maynard James Keenan has kept quite busy both recording and touring with his other bands, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.

Earlier this year, Carey had stated that Tool would likely enter the studio in June or July.
