In the heart of New York City, fans lined up in the rain to see Volbeat, Anthrax and Crobot play Hammerstein Ballroom for the last date of the North American Outlaw Gentlemen and Shady Ladies tour.

The Danish metallers kicked off their set with the older track “Hallelujah Goat” and went into “A New Day.” Whether it was “Sad Man’s Tongue” or “Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood,” from beginning to end, the crowd’s voices echoed throughout the venue.

Volbeat also teased snippets of new songs, and fans, including yours truly, cannot wait to hear the upcoming material in full! Another special moment of the night was Jerry Only gracing the stage in full armor to sing “Angelf--k,” a Misfits original that Volbeat covered on their 2010 album Beyond Hell / Above Heaven.

With former Anthrax guitarist Rob Caggiano part of the Volbeat lineup, the encore of the night was exceptional as Anthrax members Scott Ian and Charlie Benante came out onstage and rocked to “Pool of Booze, Booze, Booza.” The night ended with “The Lonesome Rider” and the favorite “Still Counting.”

The band never disappoints when they hit the stage, from the quality of their sound, to their bright lights and vibrant production, Volbeat are one of the most vivacious and original bands you can see live in heavy music today.

The hometown heroes of Anthrax took the stage beforehand for a crushing set. With frontman Joey Belladonna’s limitless energy running around the stage, Frankie Bello’s high jumps, crazy hair and awesome faces, and Scott Ian stomping around the stage, what’s not to love? Heads banged and fists pumped to anthems “Caught in a Mosh,” “I Am the Law” and their cover of Trust’s “Antisocial.”

As they ended the night with “Indians,” they had a bit of a hiccup during the song but guitarist Scott Ian took the moment to affectionately yell at fans to go crazy. Ian also said that Anthrax are working on some killer new music. They picked up where they left off in the song and everyone in the venue did some serious war dancing!

The dirty groove rockers of Crobot kicked off the night will a high energy performance. The band has been touring in promotion of their first studio album Something Supernatural and to say the least ,Crobot’s live show is something very special.
