Every Friday, we'll be curating for you the best new music of the week and beyond, putting together the best hard rock and metal music has to offer as a part of our playlist, Weekly Wire. Here's what you can expect:

This week, we're going further into the most recent Glassjaw album, Material Control, and have chosen them to adorn our cover photo of the week. "Golgotha" is a total crusher from the record, filled with weirdo guitar parts and an unforgiving heaviness. The band are ones to break boundaries, packing an unpredictable combination of elements that will inspire and ignite.

Today also saw a surprise release of Ghost's new live album, Ceremony and Devotion. The album is a crusher and a great indicator of what their live show is like, and as such we've picked "Monstrance Clock," the album closer for one of our early favorites of the live set.

Speaking of live releases, Deep Purple put out their long awaited The Infinite Live Recordings, Vol 1. for the world to hear, cementing themselves as legends that can still go the distance for their live act.

This week featured a host new releases from wide-ranging hard rock and metal acts. Avenged Sevenfold dropped their Live at The GRAMMY Museum album, featuring a set of them playing acoustic takes on fan favorites. Cult favorite metal act YOB also released their new full-length album, The Great Cessation, plus Windhand gave the first tastes of what to expect from their future release.

All that, plus we threw in a nice taste of our Best Heavy Metal Songs of 2017 list, as well as our Best Hard Rock Songs of 2017. Both have their own playlists as well, so be sure to check them out.
