The third annual Louder Than Life festival is in the books, having left concertgoers sufficiently rocked with plenty of hard rock and metal memories. Close to 50,000 attended the two-day festival in Louisville, Ky., watching acts like Slipknot, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed and Slayer command the stage.

The fun kicked off on Saturday with stellar sets from Hellyeah, Anthrax, Cheap Trick, Pierce the Veil, The Cult, Slayer and headliners Avenged Sevenfold among others. There was even the spirit of collaboration in the air as Anthrax's Scott Ian got to live out a longtime dream joining Cheap Trick onstage for a performance of "Auf Wiedersehen" during the recent Rock Hall inductees' performance. See fan shot footage of the performance below.

Meanwhile, Sunday had Slipknot in the headlining spot with Disturbed, Korn, Ghost, Clutch, Alter Bridge and Skillet leading a packed day of rock. Given the Slipknot and Korn were on the same bill, Corey Taylor took the opportunity to join Korn during their set for a performance of "A Different World," the band's new single that features a guest appearance by the Slipknot frontman. See footage of that below as well.

Those in attendance had more than music to enjoy, as the Louder Than Life festival continued its long-running association with vendors in the Gourmet Man Food village, provided regional craft beers and had the finest of Bourbon on hand as part of the Bourbon World area. There were also meet-and-greets, autograph signings and plenty of other attractions.

All in all, it was a great music weekend. Check out our photos from the 2016 Louder Than Life festival in the gallery above.
