We asked, you answered and after the votes were tabulated, Alter Bridge's The Last Hero album was voted as Loudwire's October 2016 Release of the Month. The disc led wire-to-wire in the voting, while The Pretty Reckless' Who You Selling For and Korn's The Serenity of Suffering also put up solid voting totals.

After a 2015 that saw singer Myles Kennedy touring heavily with Slash and guitarist Mark Tremonti working on a pair of albums and hitting the road with his self-titled group, Alter Bridge reconvened in late 2015 to begin working on new music. The band reunited with longtime producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette and started to carve out a disc that was darker and more political in nature.

The band kicked things off with the release of the single "Show Me a Leader."  Vocalist Myles Kennedy stated, “Lyrically, it reflects the frustrations that a lot of people are feeling with the current state of the world. The world is looking for trustworthy effective leadership and not this undignified dog and pony show that’s really made a mockery of our system.” Guitarist Mark Tremonti added, “It’s indicative of our process. Myles had this guitar intro that I loved, and I had the chorus. We put them together. The words call out for a proper leader.”

In the lead up to the album release, the band also issued three more preview tracks. The uplifting and positive "My Champion," the motivational rocker "Poison in Your Veins" and the chugging cautionary tale "The Other Side" provided more variety while helping to stay true to the album's themes. All in all, The Last Hero comes off as a harder-edged and more focused effort.

The disc arrives on Oct. 7 as part of the band's new record deal with Napalm Records worldwide, and Caroline Records in the U.S. It's available to pre-order in a variety of physical bundle options at the band's webstore or via the digital outlet of your choosing here. And look for Alter Bridge on tour stateside during the month of October, before finishing out the year in Europe. Dates can be found here.

Once again, congrats to Alter Bridge, as The Last Hero has been voted as Loudwire's October 2016 Release of the Month.
