The fifth annual Monster Energy Aftershock Festival is set to commence on Oct. 22 and 23 in Sacramento, California. One of the largest rock festivals in the U.S., last year's edition saw acts perform across four stages with Slipknot and Faith No More serving as the weekend's headliners.

This year, Aftershock will make its return to Discovery Park, the original home site for the festival after venturing out to Gibson Ranch in 2015. “Gibson Ranch was a beautiful place to hold last year’s Monster Energy Aftershock,” commented Danny Hayes, CEO of Danny Wimmer Presents, orchestrator of the fest and others like Rock on the RangeCarolina Rebellion and the newly instated Chicago Open Air and Houston Open Air. “But there is just something really special about Discovery Park and its proximity to downtown," he continued. "It offers the best of both the gorgeous park setting and all the amenities of Sacramento.”

Echoing these sentiments was Mike Testa, COO of Visit Sacramento, who said, "We couldn’t be more excited that Aftershock is returning to Discovery Park, the festival’s original home in Sacramento. While showcasing the natural treasure of Discovery Park to visitors from across the United States, it also brings the attendees in closer proximity to our city and county hotels to maximize the festival’s millions of dollars in economic impact.”

One of the biggest nearby attractions is the opportunity to swim, leading to Aftershock's partnership with the Sacramento Department of Regional Parks on a water safety campaign dubbed 'Life Looks Good on You.' Clay Busch, Vice President of Marketing for Danny Wimmer Presents, commented, "With Discovery Park located where the American and Sacramento rivers meet, promoting water safety is very important to us." Photos of bands who have signed on to promote the campaign, like Five Finger Death Punch and Avatar, can be seen rocking life preserver vests below.

The lineup for the 2016 installment of Aftershock will be revealed on June 7 at noon PT and the organizers are promising some surprises are certain.
