When 12 years worth of anticipation separates a legendary band's most recent album and its upcoming release, it can break a metalhead's blackened heart if the group's new material doesn't deliver. Luckily, for fans of Gorguts, the band's new album 'Colored Sands' sounds like it's going to absolutely rip!

Gorguts' most recent album, 'From Wisdom to Hate,' was unveiled in 2001, but the suicide of drummer Steve MacDonald brought one of death metal's all-time greatest bands to a screeching halt. Despite Gorguts' long 21st Century drought, the band now boasts an all-star lineup of founder and frontman Luc Lemay, guitarist Kevin Hufnagel (Dysrhythmia, While Heaven Wept), bassist Colin Marston (Behold… the Arctopus, Dysrhythmia) and drummer John Longstreth (Origin, The Red Chord).

Gorguts premiered the crushing new track 'Forgotten Arrows' in late June, and like a brutal omen, it signaled potential brilliance within 'Colored Sands.' Yet another new Gorguts cut, 'An Ocean of Wisdom,' has just been unleashed. And guess what? It's seven minutes of brilliantly crafted death metal.

"'An Ocean of  Wisdom' is a song telling the story about how the 14th Dalai Lama was found," says Lemay. "When the 13th Dalai Lama died, he was put in a room, and from there, monks looked for signs and hints from his body. Also by consulting oracles and going to the sacred lake, Lhamo-Latso, the lake of vision, monks gathered all the elements so they knew where to look to find the Dalai Lama's reincarnation. Above all, 'Ocean of Wisdom' is the english translation for: 'Dalai Lama.'"
