Friday (March 15) was a big day for Green Day at South by Southwest, as the band had two films screening and they made a welcome return to the concert stage at the Moody Theater. While 'Cuatro,' the documentary about the creation of their album trilogy, has appeared at other festivals, South by Southwest was the premiere of 'Broadway Idiot,' their film about the creation of their 'American Idiot' stage production.

Dave Grohl and his Sound City Players are getting into a groove. With mostly the same lineup that appeared at the Sundance Film Festival and in Los Angeles and New York earlier this year, the giant music collective took over Austin's historic music venue Stubb's Thursday night (March 14) for a truly epic set at the South by Southwest festival.
Rob Zombie is set to have a monster year in 2013. The multi-talented artist will be releasing his latest film, 'The Lords of Salem,' on April 19, with the soundtrack for the movie dropping on April 16. Additionally, Zombie's fifth solo album, 'Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor,' will become available on April 23, and amidst all the excitement, Zombie recently decided to tell a fascinating story about smoking crack with heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne and late R&B star Rick James.
Dave Grohl is taking over Austin this week as one of South by Southwest's most prominent figures. The musician just had a chance to show off his 'Sound City' documentary for the Austin denizens and is heading to the Austin Convention Center today to give his keynote speech for the music conference. The speech itself will stream live online courtesy of NPR and SXSW at noon ET / 9AM PT and you can catch it right here in the player below.
This is a big week for Dave Grohl, who is not only bringing his 'Sound City' documentary and a Sound City Players concert to Austin's South by Southwest, he's also delivering the music conference's keynote speech. The rocker tells USA Today that he feels confident in the speech he's ready to give and part of that comes from his upbringing.
A good chunk of the music community will find themselves in Austin, Texas, next week for the South by Southwest music conference and that includes the artists celebrating Wind-up Records' 15th anniversary. UK upstarts Young Guns and hard rocking Oklahoma outfit Aranda are among the acts representing Wind-up while at SXSW.
