Here's your cool cover of the day, as Lullwater are taking on the Pearl Jam song "Release" and teaming up with Loudwire to exclusively premiere the video for the song (watch above).

While Lullwater formed in Georgia, the Athens rockers found themselves influenced heavily by the '90s grunge era music coming from the Pacific Northwest and so it was a natural fit that they wanted to take on a favorite song from Pearl Jam.

Singer-guitarist John Strickland tells us, "The entire experience of recording Pearl Jam's ‘Release' in London Bridge Studios was so surreal. Pearl Jam is one of my favorite bands and to cover that song in the same room as they did, was very emotional for me. I had no idea that a couple of years later we would be performing it live with Dave Krusen and Kevin Martin on the Candlebox tour; it’s such an odd and incredible feeling of living and experiencing the moments we've made because of ‘Release.' It's by far the coolest thing that’s ever happened to me as a musician. Thinking back to when I was in my adolescent years playing that song over and over and then one day to be performing it live with the original drummer, is simply crazy for me. ‘Release' has a special place in my heart and is one of my favorite songs to play live.”

The video for the song is a mix of in studio performance and onstage footage as well, all set against the studio recording of the track which finds the band perfectly capturing the ebb-and-flow vibe of the song. As previously stated, keen-eyed viewers will spot Candlebox's Kevin Martin and onetime Pearl Jam drummer Dave Krusen in the performance footage, though they do not appear on the studio version of the track.

Lullwater have made the single available for free via Soundcloud. And look for band playing The Jinx in Savannah, Ga., on April 20. Stay tuned here for more touring updates.
