Revolver Golden Gods 2013 – Exclusive Black Carpet Photo Gallery + Quotes
The 2013 Revolver Golden Gods Awards have given the metal and hard rock genres the spotlight is so rightly deserves and some of rock's biggest names walked the Black Carpet Thursday night (May 2) sharing what it meant to have something that is truly the genre's own. Thankfully, Loudwire was there to capture the sights and sounds of the Black Carpet.
Halestorm's Lzzy Hale explained, ""We're all here in honor of each other and supporting each other and really, hard rock and metal, these two genres work the hardest on the road. I'm sorry, I'm just gonna say it. We do. We're huffing it out, a van, an RV, a crappy bus from 1982 where the freaking door doesn't work and for it to culminate in this, it's a time to support each other."
While on the Black Carpet, Black Veil Brides' Andy Biersack took time out to show that camaraderie. Speaking to us about their nominated song, 'In the End' with Halestorm within earshot, Biersack stated, "'In the End' has had a great run, but we're hoping to beat the Grammy-winning Halestorm. Congratulations by the way, guys. Thank you for doing that for our genre."
Testament's Alex Skolnick added, "How is this so different than other award shows? Well other award shows, metal is such a tiny part. They try to sweep it under the rug. But this is all about metal. Metal is the full game plan and you can't get much better than that."
Broken Hope's Jeremy Wagner, happy to be walking the Black Carpet representing his re-formed band, stated, "It's such a great lineup and the crowd out here is just huge and loud. It's like being at a metal show almost and I think it's fantastic. This is our night for metal, the metal genre and there's nothing else like it."
The Black Carpet also gave the rockers a chance to salute the night's top honorees and performers. Whether it was Huntress' Jill Janus proclaiming her love for Glenn Danzig and hoping to fulfill the wish she's had since she was 11 of meeting the rocker or Stone Sour's Josh Rand speaking about Riff Lord winner Tony Iommi's legacy as "THE heavy metal guitarist, period," there was a lot of love for the metal and hard rock vets.
Korn's Brian "Head" Welch summed it up, stating, "To me, I give respect to all these guys getting honored here tonight. I just feel it so much and it's really cool to honor them. It's going to be such a great night for rock and roll."
