The Dark Element are upon us, so let's embrace the new music project featuring former Nightwish vocalist Anette Olzon and ex-Sonata Arctica guitarist Jani Liimatainen. They've teamed up with Loudwire to bring you the exclusive premiere of their video for the song "My Sweet Mystery."

The track itself starts off on the heavier side with aggressive, chugging guitar before it pulls back for a more melodic nature with Olzon's vocals leading the way. By the time the song hits the chorus, it ramps up again, and Liimatainen gets the opportunity to showcase his talents late in the track with a guitar solo leading into a solid finish.

Of the video, Olzon tells us, "We shot the video outside of Gothenburg in a cool abandoned factory building which is also Patric Ulleus' (video director) studio. It was a perfect spot to film with lots of space, dirty floors, dust and brick walls. We wanted a video with a live feeling and this place worked perfect for it."

Oddly enough, the video provided the first meeting for Olzon and Liimatainen. She explains, "It was the first time and so nice to finally get to see who he was and the person behind those great songs I had been recording vocals for. We had emailed lots, of course, during the whole one year process of making the album, but it is always nice to meet face to face so you can talk in person."

And in the clip, The Dark Element appear as a four piece. Olzon explains, "The other two guys are the drummer and bass player who have played on the album: Jonas Kuhlberg (bass) and Jani Hurtsi Hurula (drums). Me and Jani felt it would look kinda lame to only have him and I in the video, so we asked them to join us for the shoot and they were happy to do that. They normally both play in Jani's band Cain's Offering so they all knew each other from before."

Liimatainen says of the project, "I have always been a big fan of Anette's voice and when the opportunity to work with her arose, writing and producing an album, it was something I just couldn't say no! It has been a blast working on the songs and I can't wait for everyone to hear the final result. This will be epic! The songs are extremely melodic and to the point. My goal has been to write catchy songs with hooks that will haunt your dreams, and I think it's pretty much 'mission accomplished.' Stay tuned for something special!"
