Top 20 Songs: Week of May 19-25, 2013

Liz Ramanand, Loudwire

It’s two weeks and counting for Volbeat atop the Loudwire Radio Top 20 Countdown. The band’s ‘Hangman’s Bodycount’ enjoyed a rapid ascent up the chart and could potentially stay at No. 1 beyond this week.

At present, the group’s biggest challenge comes from Shinedown‘s ‘I’ll Follow You.’ The track is spending its third straight week at No. 2, but was leapfrogged by Volbeat to take the top spot. Settling in at No. 3 this week are Alice in Chains. The group’s latest single, ‘Stone,’ climbs a notch from No. 4. Also moving up this week is Pop Evil‘s ‘Trenches,’ ascending from No. 5 to No. 4. Finishing out the top five is former chart topper Device, as ‘Vilify’ slides from No. 3 to No. 5.

The countdown also features a pair of major movers. Black Sabbath‘s ‘God Is Dead?’ jumps four big notches into the Top 10 at No. 10. Also moving up is Black Veil Brides ‘In the End,’ which leaps from No. 16 to No. 12. On the down side, the Dave Grohl / Corey Taylor collaboration on ‘From Can to Can’t’ continues its slide, falling from No. 6 to No. 9 and Soundgarden‘s ‘By Crooked Steps’ falls from No. 11 to No. 14.

The Top 20 Countdown also features the debut of the Five Finger Death Punch track ‘Lift Me Up,’ with special guest vocals by Rob Halford. The track slots in at No. 18 this week, in the process knocking out Papa Roach‘s ‘Where Did the Angels Go?’
