Video Released for Trent Reznor Version of ‘Immigrant Song’
We recently reported on Nine Inch Nails creative force Trent Reznor releasing a cover of the Led Zeppelin classic 'Immigrant Song.' Now a cyber-creepy music video has surfaced for the track that features vocals by Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O and additional production by Reznor's musical partner Atticus Ross.
This version of 'Immigrant Song' was recorded for the official soundtrack of the English-language film adaptation of the Stieg Larsson novel 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.' Reznor wrote the entire film soundtrack with composer Ross. The duo recently scored the soundtrack for 'The Social Network,' earning the Golden Globe for Best Original Soundtrack and the 2011 Academy Award for Best Original Score.
The new 'Immigrant Song' video was created by 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' director David Fincher. The music video complements Trent Reznor's trademark electronic sound, while capturing the viewer's attention with disturbing futuristic dissonance. The moving collage featured in the video was created by Fincher for the title sequence of the upcoming film.
“For the last 14 months, Atticus and I have been hard at work on David Fincher’s ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,’” says Reznor. “We laughed, we cried, we lost our minds and in the process made some of the most beautiful and disturbing music of our careers.”
The soundtrack to 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' is available now, while the movie is set for theatrical release on Dec. 21 in North America.
