At the Gates Give Crushing Performance in NYC With Converge, Pallbearer + Vallenfyre
The Decibel Magazine Tour made its last stop at New York City's Webster Hall on April 12. This marked At the Gates' return to the city for the first time in seven years -- for a sold-out show, no less.
The headliners came back to hungry fans in support of their latest album, At War With Reality, which is their first since 1995’s Slaughter of the Soul. They kicked off their set with the obliterating track “Death and the Labyrinth” off of their latest effort.
Fans watched At the Gates belt out favorites like “Slaughter of the Soul” and “Cold,” while the floor of Webster Hall’s main room shook with force.
The encore included “Blinded by Fear” and “Kingdom Gone.” The memorable show came to an end with “The Night Eternal” from At War with Reality.
As they go on to take Europe, Australia, South Africa and the rest of the world by storm, we hope to see At the Gates return to the states before another seven years go by.
Converge is one of the most energetic bands you can see out there today. The band stole the show as they gave a jolt to fans who were crowd surfing and singing throughout the band's invigorating opening set. We will be waiting for them to come back to the city soon too.
Arkansas doom band Pallbearer and U.K. act Vallenfyre kicked off the night with heavy performances as well.
