Black Sabbath’s Henry vs. Manowar’s Manowarrior – Metal Mascot Madness, Round 1
The Godfathers of Metal and the Defenders of True Steel are squaring off in the first round of the March Metal Mascot Madness! Even with Black Sabbath being a household name, plenty of Sabbath fans will struggle to identify the name of the band's winged mascot. Meanwhile, the crudest guess will reveal the name of Manowar's mascot. So who are they?
Henry is the outstretched angel (or demon depending on who you ask) that has sporadically been featured among Black Sabbath's vast catalog. First breaking through in the Never Say Die era, Henry comes out from the shadows every now and then whether it's on the bass drum heads, shirts, or a small spotlight on Heaven and Hell's The Devil You Know.
The Manowarrior is a literal extension of Manowar's image, portraying strength, power, and the ability to crush all posers who stand in the way. This mascot is an exact visual representation that the band put forth in the '80s, sporting loincloths and oiled bodies. Manowar's music is sacred to their fans, and the Manowarrior represents the power within all of them.
