Singer Sully Erna feels that Godsmack match up against any other hard-rock band out there, but he admits he would not want his group to step onstage after a set by Rage Against the Machine or Foo Fighters.

"We're not intimidated by very many bands out there," Erna recently told Q103 radio in Albany, N.Y. "There's probably only 3 or 4 bands I wouldn't want to go [onstage] after -- one of them is Rage Against the Machine and the other one is probably the Foo Fighters."

He adds, "Those two bands are just awesome live and really high energy. They really bring it and I have a lot of respect for them … Rage Against the Machine are probably the No. 1 band I wouldn't want to follow because they're insane."

In the same interview, Erna lists his influences as Metallica, Jane's Addiction, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath and Pantera.

Meanwhile, Godsmack are certainly holding their own against the heavyweight lineup on the current Rockstar Mayhem Festival, which wraps up Sunday, Aug. 14, in West Palm Beach, Fla. According to our reporter, Godmack blew away co-headliner Disturbed at the New Jersey stop of the tour.
