Joe Perry to Rejoin Hollywood Vampires After Collapsing Onstage
Hollywood Vampires, the supergroup whose core features Alice Cooper, Aerosmith's Joe Perry and Johnny Depp, suffered a major scare earlier in the month when Perry collapsed onstage. Initially in critical condition, the icon appears to be healthy as he will rejoin the band tonight (July 22).
The news came from the Hollywood Vampires Facebook page, where they reported that Perry will be returning to the band for their gig in Ronhert Park, Calif. with four shows left on the tour in total. The post can be seen in full directly below.
On July 10 in Brooklyn, N.Y., Perry was noticeably unstable onstage while playing guitar, slowly walking off where he collapsed and was rushed to Coney Island Hospital and later transported to another health facility. Reports initially indicated that Perry suffered from cardiac arrest and even had to be revived on scene by police. Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton issued an update the following day, stating he expected Perry to return to the stage soon. Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, remained worried, however, as he had not heard from Perry since the collapse.
Hollywood Vampires are currently rounded out by touring drummer Matt Sorum (ex-the Cult, ex-Guns N' Roses), bassist Robert DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots), guitarist Tommy Henriksen and keyboardist Bruce Witkin. The band released their eponymous debut last year, lined with three original cuts and 11 cover tunes.
