Kirk Hammett vs. John Petrucci – Greatest Metal Guitarist, Quarterfinals

Kirk Hammett took on Yngwie Malmsteen in a close match in Round 2, but when the polls closed, Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett was the last man standing. Hammett also defeated former Exodus band mate Gary Holt in Round 1 of our Greatest Metal Guitarist feature, but Hammett will be facing his toughest opponent yet in our Quarterfinals.

Two of rock and metal's most technically proficient guitarists faced off against each other in Round 2, where Dream Theater's John Petrucci took on Eddie Van Halen. Although there is only one Eddie Van Halen, Dream Theater fans swarmed our Round 2 poll and afforded Petrucci a comfortable win over Van Halen. Will Petrucci survive the Quarterfinals?
