One of the more unusual pairings in rock music has just been created for an upcoming tour. Party rocker Andrew W.K. has accepted an invitation from legendary Ramones drummer Marky Ramone to sing for the stickman's Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg outfit. This means that Andrew W.K. will fill the shoes of the late great Joey Ramone as Blitzkrieg pummel through more than 30 Ramones classics per night!

With the tragic deaths of Joey, Johnny and Dee Dee Ramone still fresh in our memories, a show from Marky Ramone's Blitzkrieg is unfortunately the closest many fans will ever get to experiencing a Ramones performance. However, in a move of twisted genius, Marky Ramone has added the human party machine, Andrew W.K., to the Blitzkrieg act.

Although Andrew W.K. is far from a punk rock legend, the singer harnesses a unique ability to create and spread massive bursts of energy throughout a venue, and is sure to get Ramones fans of all ages jumping and dancing around to some classic tunes.

“I first met Andrew through a mutual friend and he told me about his party philosophy, which has also always been my exact take on life," explains Marky Ramone. "We went into the rehearsal studio and it just clicked. We had so much fun that we wanted to invite everyone to the party. I’ve said before and I will say it again, these songs are too good not to be played live!!!”

“When Marky Ramone asks you to be his singer, you don’t even think about it. It’s an automatic, YES," raves Andrew W.K. "I was intimidated by the magnitude of the opportunity – freaked out and overwhelmed – but I was also completely determined and focused – it’s something I had to do. Even just the first rehearsal felt like an odyssey, but that’s how you can tell the experience is changing your life. I’ve never had a more rewarding, humbling, or challenging invitation than this, and I’m serving the gods via this incredible sound Marky and his band created. There’s never been better rock ‘n’ roll music made than this, and I will give everything I have to do it justice.”

What you think? Can Andrew W.K. lure in Ramones fans for a series of unforgettable evenings? Or is this entire idea a bust? Let us know in the comments section below!
