Metallica Release Helsinki Show Footage, Including Live Debut of ‘The Frayed Ends of Sanity’
As Metallica have been playing their 'By Request' tour where fans pick the setlist, the shows have included their big hits like 'One,' 'Enter Sandman' and 'Nothing Else Matters,' but also some surprises.
The fans at Sonisphere Finland voted for 'The Frayed Ends of Sanity' from 1988's '...And Justice For All,' and Metallica played it live in its entirety for the first time at the May 28 show. You can see that performance and other material in the latest Met On Tour video (watch above).
The 30-minute video starts with the band playing 'The Frayed Ends of Sanity" at sound check the day before the Helsinki show, and then they tackle it in their 'tuning room' the day of the festival before being rudely interrupted by a wayward bee.
The video also includes Metallica's performances of 'Enter Sandman' and 'The Frayed Ends of Sanity' from the Helsinki concert. The 'By Request' tour continues with more European shows through mid-July. The band will be playing their lone North American date this summer on Aug. 9 at Heavy Montreal.
