Many rockers took to social media yesterday (Feb. 14) to share their love for Valentine's Day.

There's a bit of a complex history behind the declaration of Valentine's Day, but according to History.com, the date became associated with love and romance during the Middle Ages because the English and French believed that the middle of February was the start of mating season for birds. Then, people started writing Valentine's as a celebration of love after the year 1400.

So there you have it. We celebrate Valentine's Day because of birds.

Just because some of your favorite musicians may make some of the heaviest music in rock and metal doesn't mean that they don't have a sentimental side too. You'll see posts below from Slipknot's Corey Taylor, Metallica's Lars Ulrich, Slash and Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses, Tommy Lee and Vince Neil of Motley Crue and more expressing their admiration for their special someone.
