Pig Destroyer are the embodiment of metal's most purely aggressive breed. The genre of grindcore doesn't allow for much breathing room or any sort of mainstream accessibility due to its speed, incoherence and sonic violence, but for bands like Pig Destroyer, grind serves as a foundation for profound originality.

In a Death Match that featured two first-time competitors, the Acacia Strain was able to defeat Australian metalcore act Parkway Drive. With one win already under their collective belt, the Acacia Strain now face a group of underground grind legends.

"Who's more evil than Larry King?" asks Pig Destroyer vocalist J.R. Hayes before the band's ultra-violent set in Brooklyn last night (Oct. 18). We got to speak with the entirety of Pig Destroyer for a rare interview, when the subject of discussion took an unexpected turn towards iconic broadcaster Larry King.

As fans of Virginia grindcore outfit Pig Destroyer patiently wait out the Oct. 22 release of their new disc ‘Book Burner,’ the band is throwing out a bone in the form of a new lyric video for the tune ‘Burning Palm.’

The most brutal grind band on the planet comes in at No. 14 on our list, with the track 'Piss Angel' from Pig Destroyer's monumental 2001 full-length, 'Prowler in the Yard.'

It has been five long years since the last Pig Destroyer full-length, and finally the grindcore gurus have completed their fifth album. 'Book Burner' will be released Oct. 23 by Relapse Records. The 19 skull-crushing tracks were recorded at guitarist Scott Hull's Visceral Sound Studios. The band has also released a video via Decibel.com (watch below) of the recording process.

Extreme metal fans, the long wait is about to meet its conclusion! Deathgrind innovators Pig Destroyer have officially confirmed that they will indeed be releasing a new album in fall 2012.
