The rock and punk world has lost one of the greats as Stooges drummer Scott Asheton has passed away at the age of 64. Stooges frontman Iggy Pop revealed the news to fans via a post on his Facebook page, revealing that the drummer died Saturday night (March 15).
Dave Alexander, original bassist for the Stooges, was a true punk rock pioneer. Joining forces with Iggy Pop, Scott Asheton and Ron Asheton, Alexander began to blueprint the genre of punk with his three bandmates in 1967.
